I've been doing this and had no idea it was an art medium. I feel like things are clicking for me. Thank you for posting this!

I don't know if this constitutes mail art, but I have in the past enjoyed making colorful envelopes out of wall calendars. It is a simple quick project for a distracted brain, but recipients always seem to enjoy the surprise of receiving some personal mail in them! The trick is getting calendars cheap in Feb or asking friends to save you theirs when the year is over.

Yes, absolutely this counts as mail art! I love making my own envelope from recycled materials like magazines and old calendars. You should try adding a collage to your next envelope, it’s a fun way to layer even more creativity into your mail art :)

I’ve been trying to think of ways to connect with my neighbors (you know, the people who actually live right next to me) and I think mail art is a great idea. I also considered baking cookies and giving away excess zucchini in the summer.

Yay, thanks for writing about this. I hope to hear about future mail art endeavors! I learned about this art form recently from a friend's recent exhibit https://guides.nyu.edu/blog/NYU-Libraries-Exhibition-Explores-Mail-Art-Movement-and-Mark-Blochs-Postal-Art-Network
